In the absence of an infirmary, clinic or hospital near (3 minutes) to the workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid.

Employers shall protect employees who have occupational exposure to blood and bodily fluids through the use of training, universal precautions, engineering controls, work practice controls, personal protective equipment (gloves, gowns, face shields, CPR mask, etc?), proper housekeeping (clean up kits, biohazard bags, etc?), and handling of regulated waste.
Heart attacks comprise 10% of all workplace fatalities. Stroke, electric shock, drowning suffocation and poisoning account for another 12 percent of occupational deaths per year. A victim of respiratory arrest has a 98% chance of survival if someone initiates rescue breathing within one minute. Irreparable brain damage begins in 4-6 minutes of oxygen deprivation and chances of living drop to 1 in 10,000 after just 10 minutes. Cardiac arrest victims stand a 30% chance of survival if cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is given within one minute and advance life support is started within eight minutes.
